Everyone has the right to use Helsinki University Library.

Students at the University of Helsinki can acquire a digital Helka library card via the Studies Service. If you acquire a digital Helka card, you do not need a plastic Helka card at all.

Only a Helka card can be used in Helsinki University Library.
Call the service number of Helsinki University Library 02941 23920 during library customer service hours or send an email to the address library@helsinki.fi, and we will suspend your library card.
You can also report your card as lost in the nearest Helsinki University Library location.
If you later find your card, you must go to the library to show your ID and the library card, and the card will be reactivated.
If you do not find the card, a new one costs €5. If you have reported your card as stolen to the police, you will get a new card free of charge. You must present the police report when you come to collect your new card.

You let too much time pass between requesting and opening the link.

Your device switches wireless networks between the time you request and open the link or your mobile device switches from mobile connection to wireless or vice versa (in which case the device’s IP address changes).
You can change the PIN code in your customer information in the Helka database. The PIN code must be four digits. You need the PIN code only when you are using the library's self-service lending machines.
Logging in to Helka customer information requires that you have provided the library with your email address.
University of Helsinki members’ (students and staff) contact information in the library’s Helka database is automatically updated through the HU background systems (Sisu, SapHR). Please make sure to notify these services of any changes in your contact information.
