In the Faculty of Medicine, the department of pharmacology is strongly involved in educating the students in medicine, dentistry and translation medicine, offering basic education worth more than 20 credits annually and also a variety of optional courses on the mechanisms of action of drugs and pharmacotherapy. The scientists working at the department also actively supervise doctoral candidates, advanced medical students and master’s students in their research projects.
The research at the department is focused on neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, regenerative pharmacology and intestine physiology. The research groups investigate, among other things, new sites of drug action for neurodegenerative diseases and schizophrenia as well as mechanisms associated with appetite regulation and addiction, also pursuing various Therapeutic modalities for heart diseases.
If you are interested in knowing more about the science or about the research opportunities, please contact the group leaders and principal investigators.
