Within DIMISO, we conduct research focused on diversity, multilingualism, minority issues and social justice in relation to pedagogy and teacher education. Racialization, ethnicity, gender, social class, special needs and sustainability are central research areas within the group. The research covers everything from early childhood pedagogy to youth and adult pedagogy, and has a strong Nordic orientation. We use varied research methods, such as discourse analysis, ethnography, quantitative analyses, conversation analysis, philosophy of education, video research and visual research methods. Our research unit is closely connected to a Nordic center of excellence Quality in Nordic Teaching (QUINT), and to larger Nordic and national projects, such as on Nordic primary schools, on racialisation, on children's socio-emotional development and on school, school choice and segregation.
