Get to know the University with your class!
On the guided tour aimed at educational institutions, you get to know the impressive Main Building of Finland's largest university and hear how the university has influenced people's lives over the centuries. With the guide, you visit the Helsinki University Museum Flame’s Passion for knowledge -exhibition and the other spaces in the Main Building, where the past and the present live side by side.
The guided tour leads you to reflect about the social significance of the university and research at different times. The various premises illustrate the turning points in Finland's history. When and why was the Royal Academy of Turku, the predecessor of the University of Helsinki, founded in the Kingdom of Sweden? What kind of changes did the University experience in the 19th century, when Finland had become one of the Grand Duchies of Russia? What does everyday life at the University look like these days? The participants will learn how the work done at the University has influenced our country's development into a successful welfare state.
The guided tour is aimed at middle and high school students. Duration 1 hour. The price for a group visit (max. 30 students) is 60 euros, which includes both the tour and the entrance fees. If necessary, the group is divided into two. The tour can be carried out accessible.
