The Animal Reproduction Science Group are researchers and clinicians at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Helsinki. Our group members work with all domestic animal species with a One Health goal in mind. In addition to working with research and teaching, we offer a variety of clinical services in animal reproduction.
Ruminant Health research group works at the Department of Production Animal Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dairy production is the largest livestock sector of Finnish agriculture and bovine mastitis continues to be the most common and costly disease of dairy cows. Udder health and milk quality are topics of active research of our group. Other research areas include hoof diseases, calf health and small ruminant health. We mostly conduct applied, epidemiologic field studies, in close collaboration of industry partners.
We are a multidisciplinary research community uniting animal welfare and behavior researchers from different fields to a common pool of expertise. The group was established in 2003, and currently consists of more than 20 researchers, of which approximately half are senior researchers. The background of our members is within veterinary, agricultural, biological, cognition and engineering sciences.
