When writing the thesis, students familiarise themselves with the latest relevant research-based knowledge, the appropriate research methods and science communication, with support provided by their supervisor. Thesis work includes an independently written thesis and participation in seminar sessions.
Often, licentiate theses also include an experimental component, which students carry out, for example, in one of the Faculty’s research groups. Writing an experimental thesis as part of research group activities is an excellent way of getting to know the work of researchers. After completing their licentiate thesis, some students continue to conduct research alongside their basic education, applying for the right to pursue doctoral studies after graduation.
