Research in the discipline of equine diseases focuses on topics relating to key diseases occurring in Finland. The primary focus of research is on doctoral students’ doctoral thesis projects and specialist articles written by specialising veterinarians. In addition, we supervise a number of licentiate theses on equine diseases written by students. Both national and international research collaboration is conducted in the projects.
Small animal research focuses on the health and well-being of small animals as well as the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Animals participating in the studies may be selected from patients treated at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital or invited separately for the study. Participation in the surveys is always voluntary and requires permission from the owner. Many studies also require healthy control animals, which are always invited separately for research projects. By participating in the study, your animal can help us to understand the causes of the diseases, to develop diagnostic methods, and find new treatments.
