We are proud to be an active participant in SPARK Finland and facilitate international engagement by leveraging our novel ideas to benefit society. Our Faculty's research commercialisation efforts have also garnered substantial support from Business Finland and the European Innovation Council, enabling us to pursue ambitious projects that address real-world challenges and create tangible societal benefits.
Our research focuses on sustainable pharmaceutical development, integrating novel technologies to reduce drugs' environmental impact. We apply the 3R principles to minimise animal use while ensuring high-quality outcomes. We promote reproducibility through transparent methods and robust data practices, fostering a culture of excellence, creativity, integrity and inclusivity for impactful discoveries and a sustainable future.
The correct use of medications is crucial for their effectiveness and safety. It is important to recognise side effects and drug interactions. When used correctly, medications are a safe and affordable way to treat most common diseases. Our clinical pharmacy research impacts healthcare by guiding the development and implementation of national medication policies and healthcare systems and by taking into account the perspectives of citizens and patients.
Our commitment to science dissemination is a key part of our societal impact. We actively participate in events such as TEDx Helsinki, bringing the University of Helsinki's most inspiring ideas to a non-scientific audience. We also have been involved in events like Breaking the Wall, HundrEDs, and ArtMeetsScience as well as various Think Corner events to showcase innovative projects.
Additionally, as founders of Slush Y Science, we've connected investors with the University's most competitive projects. These initiatives, among others, highlight our dedication to making science accessible and impactful for the broader community.
