The programme provides skills for working with children, adolescents and adults in units that provide services, for example, in neurology, neuropsychiatry or other areas related to neuropsychology.
Clinical neuropsychology focuses on injuries and illnesses of the central nervous system, the assessment and rehabilitation of the psychological implications of developmental disorders and learning difficulties, as well as the steering of networks and related consultation. The training is aimed at providing you with the skills needed in demanding expert positions in the field of neuropsychology, both in your work community as well as the different levels of the healthcare system and society. The programme provides you with skills to not only apply but also analyse, assess and develop professional practices in clinical neuropsychology on the basis of research evidence.
The programme provides a qualification pursuant to section 7 c of the Universities Act (558/2009) and section 7 a of the amendment of the Universities Act (1172/2014) and the Government Decree on University Degrees and Professional Specialisation Programmes (1439/2014) for serving in demanding specialist positions in the specialist field of neuropsychology. Specialists who have completed the Specialisation Programme in Neuropsychology can apply for the right to provide neuropsychological rehabilitation services subsidised by the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (KELA). This right can be applied for already during the training. The training is also counted towards the degree pursued in doctoral education.
