PhD Study Track
The PhD Study Track at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki, provides students, already after their first year of study, with the opportunity to embark on carefully supervised research aimed at pursuing a doctoral degree alongside completing a licentiate degree. Students are admitted each year to the study track from among the first-year students of medicine, dentistry, logopedics and psychology. At the first stage, students will receive guidance and supervision from tutors.
Students admitted to the study track will work in research groups for five summers before completing their undergraduate degree. In the first two summers, students have the unique opportunity to conduct research in one to four research groups to familiarise themselves with a range of research topics and designs. After the second summer at the latest, they will embark on research aiming at a doctoral thesis in a Faculty research group.
