Studies providing qualifications for the various teacher professions

The Faculty of Educational Sciences arranges the following non-degree programmes for teacher qualifications:

Pedagogical Studies for Subject Teachers, 60 credits (in Finnish, Swedish, and English)

  • Intermediate Studies in University Pedagogy, 35 credits (in Finnish, Swedish, and English)
  • Special Education Teacher Programme, 60 credits (in Finnish and Swedish)
  • Subject Didactics Programme for the Class Teachers, 60 credits (in Finnish and Swedish)
  • Studies in Home Economics for Subject Teachers, 60 credits (in Finnish)
  • Studies in Craft Science for Subject Teachers, 60 credits (in Finnish
Language-Supported Basic Studies in Early Childhood Education

Language-Supported Basic Studies in Early Childhood Education are designed for immigrants interested in the field of early childhood education. The studies include courses in early childhood education, Finnish language studies, and counseling.  The program is implemented as part of the collaborative project "Language-Supported Competence Paths for Immigrants," carried out by the University of Helsinki, Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, and Aalto University. The studies are co-funded by the European Union.

Non-degree teacher qualification studies based on a decision on the recognition

The studies are intended for people who have completed a teacher's degree outside Finland and who have received a decision on the recognition of their degree from the Finnish National Agency for Education.
