After admission to pedagogical studies

If you are offered a study place in the STEP or University Pedagogy Programmes here is what you need to do before you can start your studies. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.
What to do

Accepting the offered study place

If you are offered a place on the STEP or University Pedagogy programme, you must accept it by the date specified in your letter of acceptance or you will lose the place. Also let us know if you do not wish to accept the offered place.

If you have a Finnish personal identity code, accept the offer of admission via the MyStudyinfo service. If you do not have access to the identification methods required to use the MyStudyinfo service, contact the  immediately.

Showing original documents

At this point of the  student selection process, admitted students may be asked to produce the original documents used in the admission.

Instructions on how to activate a new account

If you a are a new student at the University of Helsinki, in order to use the IT services available at the University of Helsinki, you must first activate your user account. This can be done after your registration is completed in the Student Registration System SISU. You should be able to activate your account no later than the first week of August.

Starting your studies

The  will assist you and provide more detailed information on your studies.

Sisu -student registration system

Since 1 August 2025 all non-degree STEP students are registered as "active" in the Sisu -student registration system, despite of possible absence. If you need more time to complete your studies after the two-year study period, please contact the Faculty. If you have documents on military service, pregnancy or paternal leave show these documents to the Faculty.

Student Union

Unfortunately, the non-degree student may not not join the Student Union anymore. However, the welcomes all STEP Students!
