Open University

At the University of Helsinki, you will find scientific content and teachers who rank among the best in the world, and the most inspiring study opportunities. At the Open University, some of these offerings are available to everyone, without any basic educational requirements or age limits.

In the case of our Faculty, courses are available particularly in the bachelor’s programmes, with part of the studies completed online. Through the Open University, you can supplement your skills or build a path to degree studies. Or you can find out which discipline interests you the most.

Teaching is provided as remote or contact instruction. While the largest share of web-based education is provided in the Bachelor’s Programme in Environmental Sciences, online instruction will increase in other degree programmes as well. Some courses are organised collaboratively, in which case Open University students attend instruction organised by the degree programme, or vice versa.
