The doctoral programme brings together research and teaching staff from several departments and institutes at the University of Helsinki. On campus, the Viikki research farm, plant growth facilities, the Viikki Food Design Factory and arboretum provide valuable services for research and development. Furthermore, research stations such as Hyytiälä, and research networks such as INAR, HELSUS and HiLIFE offer rich opportunities for collaborative projects, and access to infrastructure and state-of-the-art equipment.

Our external partners include national research institutes and companies.

This multidisciplinary research community is based at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry. The programme conducts both basic and applied research that addresses the societally relevant challenges found in agriculture, microbiology, food, forestry and their value chains.
