This statement is based on an accessibility report made by an external accessibility expert on November 1st, 2023.

Status of the digital service’s accessibility

The requirements are met partly.

Non-accessible content

The website does not yet meet the requirements fully.

The detected shortcomings are divided according to the contents of the accessibility report.

Visuals

  • The text contrast in the file upload element is not satisfactory when a file is uploaded into it and the the cursor is hovering over it. (WCAG 1.4.3)

Structure

  • The confirmation page after sending a job application does not have a programmatic heading. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • The search field’s current label is not descriptive. (WCAG 1.3.1, 2.4.6)
  • The main navigation includes objects that utilize the aria-haspopup property, contrary to the ARIA specification. (WCAG 4.1.2)
  • Not every page has a unique and descriptive title. (WCAG 2.4.2)
  • The service includes content, such as language links and some job vacancy pages, that differs from the user interface’s language and does not have its own language defined. (WCAG 3.1.2)
  • The service’s language menu has been implemented in several different ways in different pages of the service and it has been named differently in each one. (WCAG 4.1.2, 3.2.4)
  • The file upload elements have a complicated program and naming structure. The programmatic structure also differs from its visual implementation. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • There are invisible text elements (“emphasized”) in the modal dialog, which screen readers interpret as being programmatically connected to certain buttons. These buttons are not visually emphasized, which leads to screen readers getting the wrong view of them. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • There is an unnamed button element among the language buttons on the email notifications’ control page. (WCAG 4.1.2)

Navigation

  • The breadcrumb trail is not implemented in a programmatically consistent way on the different pages of the service. This is especially confusing for screen reader users. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • It is not possible to get to the front page from all pages of the service. (WCAG 2.4.5)
  • Several navigation landmark elements have been used in the service’s footer, but they have not been labeled. Hence, they are not distinguishable from one another. (WCAG 4.1.2)
  • The service’s skip link has been implemented in a way that does not allow for keyboard use in the Safari browser. (WCAG 2.1.1)
  • The location of elements in the service’s header changes depending on what page you are currently on, and whether or not you are logged in. Some elements move from the header area to the main content area on certain pages. (WCAG 3.2.3)

Form elements

  • The fields asking for the user’s information are not marked programmatically correctly for utilizing autocomplete, which would aid the user in filling in the correct information. (WCAG 1.3.5)
  • Conflicting information regarding filling in fields is provided when attempting to change the password using a screen reader. Messages are not programmatically connected to their fields. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • The service’s combobox elements do not work reliably with the most common screen reader and browser combinations, nor do they fully follow the ARIA specification (WCAG 4.1.2). The elements are labeled with non-descriptive content. (WCAG 2.4.6)
  • The instructions for the Telephone number field on the job application page do not work reliably using some of the most common screen reader and browser combinations (WCAG 1.3.1).
  • The notifications do not work reliably about having reached the maximum amount of characters in the free text field of the job application on some of the most common screen reader and browser combinations. Also, the message does not remain visible, making it indetectable as text on the page (WCAG 1.3.1).

Parsing

The service has some errors when it comes to labeling start and end tags, as well as the elements being nested according to their specifications. (WCAG 4.1.1)
