Event instructions for the Unioninkatu 33 banquet rooms

The University of Helsinki banquet rooms at Unioninkatu 33 are located in a building of unique cultural and historical value on the City Centre Campus. The facilities are well suited to, for example, holding seminars as well as more formal occasions. They can be adapted to both meetings and receptions, including the serving of refreshments.

The upstairs banqueting facilities are suitable for events for up to 100 people. Upstairs and downstairs can host two different events at the same time, but only one event can be held on one floor at a time. An unguarded cloakroom for approximately 100 people is located in the foyer of the banquet hall. Reservations must be made at least four weeks before the event. The minimum booking time is four hours. 

With the exception of teaching events, dissertations (where there is no catering) and lectures, the hire of the premises is subject to the reservation of catering services from Well Catering.

Please note that the building is not accessible. There is no accessible toilet in the building. There is a service lift in the building which requires a permit and the presence of staff.

Rooms to be reserved at The University of Helsinki Banqueting Rooms:

  • Upstairs:  the Banquet Room, the Yellow Room and the Aino Cabinet are always booked as a single unit. Aino Cabinet is used as a catering area for events.
  • Downstairs on the street level, the Vault  is used as a meeting room. 

 

The Banquet Room can be used for a wide range of events, such as banquets, dissertations or seminars. The room is equipped with presentation technology. You can bring your own computer or use the computer in the room to display your presentation material via HDMI connection. The basic furnishing is a row of benches for 80 people. For an additional fee, the furniture can be changed on request. A few poster stands and a flipchart are available in the Banqueting rooms. The Banquet Room is equipped with a pointer.

In the Yellow Room you can organize, for example, a dinner or coffee, with direct access to the Aino serving area. The room has a sound system and a large screen. The basic set-up is a seated dinner for 40 people. For an additional fee, the furniture can be changed by request.

The vault is a meeting room on the ground floor of the building. The Vault is equipped with one large table for 17 people, a projector and a sound system. You can connect your own computer to the system via HDMI. The furnishings cannot be changed.

  • Use of the facility at the time of booking

Start planning catering as early as possible. 
Catering services in the building are provided by Well Catering: mailto:info@wellcatering.fi.

Bringing your own refreshments or ordering catering from other operators is not permitted, with the exception of alcoholic beverages. If alcohol is served at the event, the event organiser must purchase and deliver the beverages to the venue.
Agree on the delivery time and the quantity of beverages in advance Well catering. There are lockable storage refrigerators in the facility where refreshments can be kept cold.

Lobby Service
Lobby services are included in the price of the facilitys reservations Mon-Thu 8-20 and Fri 8-18, at other times the lobby service charge is 100€/h + VAT 25,5%. Lobby service orders from u33banquetrooms@helsinki.fi

Coat-check services 
There is an unsupervised locker for about 100 people in the lobby. At Unioninkatu 33, it is possible to request a supervised coat-check service as an additional service for events. Please order the service at least four weeks before the event. Ask for more information at u33banquetrooms@helsinki.fi
